Alternative flooring make carpets and rugs with a conscience, being totally transparent about what’s in their products and using ethically-sourced natural fibres wherever they can.

They have pledged with Ecologi to be involved in very worthwhile, well managed projects which help the planet. Some of these projects are in countries where some of the plant fibre materials are sourced. In particular, sisal is harvested in the dry arid areas of Madagascar.

Over 85% of their products are made from sustainable natural sources.  Harvested plant fibre including sisal, seagrass, jute and coir, and sheep’s wool. They try to be as transparent as possible about what their products are made from.

Where hard-wearing synthetic fabrics are the only practical option, their timeless designs and production quality can be trusted to last, cutting the resource cost of wasteful replacements. Call it smart sustainability.
