Here at Smiths flooring, homewares and bespoke rugs we are passionate about providing any rug you can possibly think of. We have sourced our ranges from far and wide, and we are the only suppliers of our 3 main bespoke ranges – Jacaranda, Sophie Cooney and The Woven Edge in the area. We chose them not only for their unique, bespoke colours and designs but also because their environmental values match ours. Their materials are sourced ethically and sustainably, and they also believe passionately in fair trade.

  • We try, wherever we can, to use suppliers that use natural materials such as wool, bamboo, silk, seagrass, coir.
  • Jacaranda use Tensil in the making of some of their rugs which is what gives it the sheen and, although its origins are in tree bark, it goes through a chemical process so can not technically be classed as eco-friendly.

There are few pieces in a home that have the decorative prowess to tie a room together as effortlessly as a rug. Whether it’s the inspiration for the space or a finishing touch, a rug can bring an incomparable layer of interest and intrigue. But finding the perfect rug has its fair share of limitations, not to mention challenges. Between the size, material, style, and make, there are a number of factors to take into consideration—and having a seemingly endless scope of options doesn’t make the process any easier.

2023 is the year of colour and creativity

Rugs can bring personality into your rooms, they also showcase the beauty of your hard flooring but still keep some softness under foot, they define different spaces and are easy to move for cleaning and maintenance

What to consider before buying a rug

First and foremost, it’s all about identifying the room the rug will live in and the purpose it’s meant to serve. Is it a statement piece to unify the aesthetic, or a functional one that prevents slips in high-traffic zones? If you have pets and little ones, a delicate vintage find is likely not advisable. Next, you’ll want to think about the rug’s size and shape, style and materials, pile, care and cleaning.
