Seagrass

What is seagrass

Seagrass is a hardy water plant with non-porous fibres. It grows in the low-lying meadows of the Asian Pacific region. These grass-like leaves are durable and hard wearing. It lends itself to high traffic areas and as such is a perfect fit for living rooms, busy hallways and as it is non absorbent it is also excellent for kitchens and dining rooms.

Is it pet friendly?

The waxy coating and non-porous nature of seagrass fibres make seagrass resistant to staining (not stainproof!) it is more pet friendly than most materials. Seagrass fibres are also static-free and do not attract dirt or dust, it is also low allergen. Liquid spills are easily wiped up and residual soil does not embed in in the fibres, however you should still mop up spills as soon as possible.

Can you use seagrass outdoors?

NO, it is not recommended, although it is hard wearing the backing will deteriorate. If you are looking for an outdoor rug please ask. We have some in stock, we can order them or you can design your own with us through Alternative flooring or the Woven Edge.
